The Gympass Year in Motion report analyzed 250 million check-ins over the last 24 months, drawing insights from two million diverse employee subscribers. The report not only paints a vivid picture of evolving trends in well-being but also underscores a collective shift cutting across diverse industries.
A novel interpretation of "happy hour" has surfaced, with 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm emerging as the preferred workout window universally, and 5:00 pm claiming the top spot. Conversely, the financial industry stands out for its early risers, as 6:00 am secures a position among the top three workout times.
January, once deemed the quintessential month for health and wellness initiatives, is no longer the reigning champion. Gympass reveals a surprising reversal, with September now claiming the top spot. The month boasts a staggering 50% more check-ins than the traditional kickoff month. Equally unexpected is the revelation that January 1 sees the least number of Gympass check-ins.
Contrary to the usual Monday resurgence in wellness routines, Gympass reports a consistent preference for check-ins on Tuesdays, closely followed by Wednesdays and Thursdays.
A standout trend among Gympass members is the burgeoning interest in habit-tracking. Healthy Habits apps witnessed an impressive 111% year-over-year surge, reflecting a growing commitment to tracking routines such as sleep and water intake.
Additionally, the emotional health app category experienced a substantial 74% year-over-year increase in usage. This points to an elevated emphasis on mental health and self-care among Gympass members.
Beyond app engagement, Gympass identifies a surge in the demand for virtual trainers and well-being coaches — a 44% year-over-year increase. This reflects a growing interest in personalized fitness solutions, aligning with a broader trend toward individualized approaches to health and wellness.
Pickleball, a rising star in racquet sports, saw a remarkable 214% increase in check-ins year-over-year, appealing to consumers of all ages.
As Gympass consistently underscores, employee well-being is paramount. The report highlights that 96% of employees seek employers prioritizing wellness, with 93% considering well-being as important as salary. A significant 87% of workers state they would consider leaving a company that doesn't prioritize employee well-being, signaling a shift towards a holistic approach to health and wellness in the workplace.
