The fitness industry continues to see rapid advancements in wearable technology, with companies working to improve the accuracy of data-driven training insights. WHOOP has announced a partnership with [solidcore], a high-intensity, low-impact strength training brand with more than 135 studios nationwide. The collaboration introduces a new [solidcore] activity mode in the WHOOP app, designed to provide more precise tracking of the reformer-based workout.

Unlike traditional strength or cardio workouts, [solidcore] workouts focus on slow, controlled, time-under-tension movements performed on a reformer. These exercises do not trigger significant heart rate spikes, which has led to inaccurate effort calculations on many wearable devices. The new WHOOP integration aims to solve this issue by quantifying muscular skeletal strain rather than relying solely on cardiovascular metrics.

With this update, [solidcore] members using WHOOP can now receive more accurate insights into the intensity and recovery demands of their workouts. The technology accounts for the sustained muscle engagement required by [solidcore]’s method, which involves pushing muscles to failure while minimizing joint strain.

The new [solidcore] activity mode was tested and refined with input from [solidcore] coaches to ensure the data accurately reflects the workout’s demands. Louisa Glynne, a [solidcore] Senior Master Coach, shared her experience with the updated tracking.

“One of the biggest benefits of WHOOP was the ability to ditch my traditional smartwatch, which often distracted me during class by lighting up with notifications,” said Glynne. “So much of [solidcore] is mental—focusing on your body, listening to it, and actively deciding to stay in the work because of the challenge. With WHOOP, I could fully lock in, confident that it would track and measure my effort without the need to start and stop an activity.”

Glynne also emphasized how the updated data improved her training insights. “Seeing my Strain and Recovery data made me realize the true impact of [solidcore] on my body. It eliminates the guesswork in recovery, helping me decide whether to incorporate other forms of movement based on how hard I’ve already pushed myself,” she said.

Beyond enhanced workout tracking, WHOOP has also joined [solidcore]’s Core Collective, providing members with exclusive perks and discounts. The partnership reflects a broader trend in the boutique fitness industry, where specialized workout styles require tailored wearable tracking to capture effort levels accurately.
