Meta Quest 3, in collaboration with PUMA, has recently launched “The world’s smallest gym” in Berlin, a novel project that combines sport and Mixed Reality (MR) in a unique setting. This initiative, open from January 12th to February 3rd, allows visitors to experience innovative workout methods using the Meta Quest 3. The activation is supported by basketball world champion Dennis Schröder and various fitness creators, and it addresses the common issue of overcrowded gyms, particularly during the colder months.

The concept revolves around a minimal space requirement of just 2m x 2m, within which users can engage in diverse fitness activities. The gym offers a range of experiences, including the rhythm game OhShape for a full-body workout, and Rezzil, which tests athletic skills in sports like boxing, football, and soccer. FitXR provides a more traditional workout experience with an array of boxing, HIIT, and dance routines, while FitXR Zumba caters to dance fitness enthusiasts.

Interested individuals can book a slot at “The world’s smallest gym” through the website, providing an opportunity to test the Meta Quest 3's workout offerings. According to Judith Hülshoff, Meta Quest's German marketing lead, the Meta Quest 3 brings the gym experience within reach, offering a variety of workouts and sports simulations through VR and MR technologies.

The project also features input from numerous fitness creators who have shared their experiences of MR sports on social media, demonstrating the potential of any space to transform into a fitness studio. Among the influencers participating are @tricksmitrick, @heyxngoc, and @jenniferlange. NBA player Dennis Schröder, part of the collaboration, highlights the new possibilities MR workouts offer for athletes and sports fans, emphasizing the convenience and equipment-free nature of this form of exercise.

As technology continues to evolve, we can anticipate further advancements in MR and VR that will make virtual fitness more immersive and interactive. This could lead to a significant shift in the fitness industry, where virtual gyms become a mainstream option, offering tailored and engaging workout experiences to a broader audience. The collaboration between Meta Quest 3 and PUMA at “The world’s smallest gym” is a glimpse into this future, where technology and fitness merge to create new and exciting ways to stay active and healthy.
