Pvolve has named Dr. Jessica Shepherd, a board-certified OB/GYN and women’s health expert, as its new Head of Medical Affairs. In her new role, Dr. Shepherd will lead the development of clinical research and targeted programming, with a focus on addressing the health needs of women as they age.

Known for her work in longevity and women’s health, Dr. Shepherd aims to expand Pvolve’s science-based approach to functional fitness, with particular attention to issues like muscle loss, bone density decline, and metabolic changes that affect women during midlife and beyond. “Building strong bodies as we age is essential to longevity, and exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have to achieve that,” she said. “Pvolve is not just redefining functional fitness, it’s creating an entirely new category that’s making a lasting impact.”

Her appointment comes on the heels of Pvolve’s Healthy Aging Study, published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, which found that the company’s resistance-based training improves strength, mobility, and overall well-being for women between the ages of 40 and 60.

Rachel Katzman, founder of Pvolve, emphasized the company’s focus on closing gender research gaps in fitness and wellness. “Starting with menopause—a vastly overlooked area—we’re showcasing the profound impact that movement can have in addressing the unique challenges women face as they age,” Katzman said. “Dr. Shepherd’s expertise will be instrumental in driving our mission forward.”

Pvolve plans to expand its health-focused offerings, including programs tailored to menopause, fertility treatments, and pelvic floor health. With Dr. Shepherd at the helm of medical affairs, the company aims to deepen its evidence-based approach while broadening support for women’s wellness across various life stages.
