In a generous move, Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has donated gym equipment used during the production of the film Deadpool & Wolverine to support a Welsh charity, Your Space. This organization, a registered charity working closely with Wrexham Council, provides essential support for young adults and children on the autism spectrum, along with their families. The proceeds from the auction of these unique items will directly benefit the charity's efforts.
Among the items up for auction are Deadpool-themed weights benches, pulling machines, and sets of dumbbells. One particularly notable item is a tower of dumbbells, humorously described as a tool to get "your body into X-Men quality shape while simultaneously chasing the goal of one day being able to count to 10." This piece, along with others, is signed by Ryan Reynolds himself, adding a special touch for fans and collectors.
Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham AFC and stars in Deadpool & Wolverine alongside Hugh Jackman, has taken a personal interest in the charity. "Not all heroes lift weights, but they sure can pump iron for a good cause," Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, told the auction host Charitybuzz. "We're auctioning off the very gym equipment that had me begging for mercy while training for Deadpool & Wolverine. This gear isn't just drenched in my sweat—I've also marked my territory by signing these pain machines.”
Wrexham AFC striker Paul Mullin, who became the patron of Your Space after his son was diagnosed with autism in 2023, expressed his gratitude for the support. Reynolds also acknowledged Mullin's involvement, adding a lighthearted note to the event. “Now that I can finally deflate my muscles, all proceeds will go to the phenomenally fit footballer Paul Mullin's Your Space charity,” said Reynolds.
This collaboration between Reynolds, Mullin, and Your Space highlights the power of community and celebrity influence in supporting meaningful causes. The auction not only provides a unique opportunity for fans to own a piece of cinematic history but also supports a charity dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of families affected by autism.
