Altea Active has opened its latest facility in Ottawa, marking another step in its expansion within Canada’s luxury fitness market. The 129,000-square-foot flagship club offers a wide range of fitness and wellness amenities, aiming to cater to the growing demand for premium, multi-functional health spaces.
The Ottawa location features boutique fitness studios, including spaces for hot yoga, cycling, Pilates, and high-intensity interval training. It also includes a women’s-only fitness suite, a recovery lounge, and a six-court indoor pickleball club. Future additions will include an aquatic center, set to open in 2025, with a lap pool, hot tub, and children’s pool.
“We’ve been blown away by the public’s interest in Altea,” said Jeff York, CEO of Altea Active. According to York, thousands of individuals have already signed up as members, and nearly 200 employees have been hired to staff the facility. The company emphasizes its commitment to providing stable employment for fitness professionals in a single, comprehensive facility.
Altea Active’s move into Ottawa aligns with its strategy to expand its presence in the luxury fitness market across Canada, where it also operates locations in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Vancouver. The company has focused on offering a mix of fitness, wellness, and community amenities to attract a wide range of members.
