As boutique fitness brands continue to expand globally, the demand for accessible and inclusive wellness concepts shows no signs of slowing down. Many people are turning to low-impact exercise options like yoga and Pilates, which offer both physical and mental health benefits. Reflecting this trend, YogaSix has officially entered Asia, marking a significant milestone in its international growth strategy.
YogaSix has officially expanded into Asia with the opening of its first studio in Japan. Located in the Shinagawa neighborhood of Tokyo, the studio opened its doors on January 7 and brings YogaSix’s signature yoga offerings, including its heated Y6 Hot class, to the local community.
The entry into Japan is part of a broader international strategy for YogaSix, which is owned by Xponential Fitness. Behind this latest expansion is Sunpark Co. Ltd., a multi-brand operator based in Osaka with experience in fitness and wellness concepts. Sunpark serves as the Master Franchisee for several Xponential brands in Japan, including Pure Barre and StretchLab, and operates more than 100 locations across Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States.
Bob Kaufman, President of International for Xponential Fitness, highlighted the strategic importance of the Japanese market. “Our boutique health and wellness concepts have resonated well with the Japanese fitness market, and we are confident that YogaSix will thrive, with its modern and accessible approach to yoga,” Kaufman said.
Ken Takagi, founder and CEO of Sunpark, echoed the sentiment. “YogaSix has great potential for growth in Japan, with its fresh take on the ancient practice, focus on community, and countless benefits for the body and mind. The Shinagawa opening is only the beginning, and we are excited to keep expanding the concept throughout the country alongside local business owners who are passionate about health and wellness and making yoga accessible to all.”
YogaSix’s entrance into Japan follows its recent expansion into Europe, with the opening of its first studio in Germany. Domestically, the franchise has established itself as a major player in the boutique fitness market, with nearly 200 studios in operation and several more in development across the United States.
The Japanese fitness market has shown growing interest in boutique wellness concepts, creating a promising environment for YogaSix’s growth. As the brand continues its international expansion, its focus on accessibility and inclusivity is expected to resonate with a diverse range of customers seeking both physical and mental health benefits through yoga.
This move underscores the increasing globalization of boutique fitness brands and their efforts to adapt to local markets while maintaining the core elements of their offerings. For YogaSix, its journey in Japan represents not only an opportunity for growth but also a chance to introduce its distinctive approach to yoga to an entirely new audience.
