Hyperice’s Normatec Elite has secured a spot on TIME’s 2024 Best Inventions list, spotlighting innovations that shape how we live and move. Launched in June 2024, the Normatec Elite builds on Hyperice’s Normatec line, popular in the fitness industry for accelerating muscle recovery and enhancing circulation—features increasingly in demand as fitness operators integrate recovery services to elevate member experiences and drive revenue.

The addition of recovery modalities in gyms and fitness studios has evolved from trend to staple, as gym-goers increasingly prioritize wellness and post-exercise care. For operators, recovery technology represents not only a valuable member benefit but also a new revenue stream, often available as a premium service. From dedicated recovery lounges to specialized classes, gyms are meeting demand with tools that maximize recovery and, consequently, member loyalty.

“Normatec Elite was a tentpole moment for both the Hyperice brand and the Normatec product line. This innovative product delivers our most premium and versatile experience to date, while enhancing power and performance,” said Hyperice CEO Jim Huether. “Earning a spot on TIME’s Best Inventions is an awesome accomplishment, and a testament to our entire team at Hyperice, whose efforts have resulted in Normatec’s category leadership. This product further drives our company mission, to help everyone on Earth move better.”

Designed by a PhD and a physician bioengineer, Normatec Elite offers features like seven levels of adjustable compression, HyperSync™ technology for synchronized or separate leg massages, and Bluetooth connectivity via the Hyperice App for extended personalization. The streamlined, fully integrated design eliminates external hoses and separate control units, while also offering up to four hours of battery life per charge. At 3.2 lbs per boot, Normatec Elite emphasizes portability without compromising performance, appealing to users on the go or those seeking premium recovery experiences at home.

Gilad Jacobs, Hyperice’s Chief Innovation Officer and founder of Normatec, stated that the Normatec Elite combines elements from the original Normatec system with newer technology. “This product and project was years in the making, and we’re grateful to be recognized by TIME for our team’s hard work,” said Jacobs.

TIME’s editors described the 2024 list as showcasing “groundbreaking inventions that are changing how we live, work, play, and think about what’s possible.” Recovery technology, such as Normatec Elite, aligns with the fitness industry’s increasing focus on recovery tools to support wellness and meet evolving member expectations.
