Peloton has announced that Peter Stern, currently serving as President of Ford Integrated Services, will assume the role of Peloton’s CEO and President beginning January 1, 2025. Stern, whose experience includes leadership positions at Apple and Time Warner Cable, is expected to join Peloton's Board of Directors following his appointment.
The decision follows a comprehensive search process by the Peloton Board. “Peter is a seasoned strategist with a track record of driving sustainable growth through innovation, and we have every confidence in his ability to lead Peloton during this important time,” said Jay Hoag, Chairperson of the Peloton Board. Hoag highlighted Stern's expertise in technology-driven platforms and his understanding of the health and wellness sector.
Stern’s background includes notable experience with subscription-based and technology-driven businesses. As the co-founder of Apple Fitness+, he grew the platform’s membership significantly and played a pivotal role in expanding Apple’s subscription services. Stern has also led other prominent ventures, including Apple TV+, Apple iCloud, Ford BlueCruise, and Time Warner Cable Home Security. His leadership spans more than two decades of work at the intersection of hardware, software, and services, positioning him well to take on Peloton’s strategic goals.
Stern, age 52, expressed enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “Working for Peloton is a dream come true for me. My goal is to help millions of people live longer, healthier, and happier lives. Peloton, with its unique combination of people, products, and passionate Members, provides me an opportunity to do just that.” He also emphasized his commitment to Peloton’s team and members, saying, “I am excited to link arms with our dedicated Lead Team. I am awestruck to personally get to know our talented instructors. And I am humbled to work alongside our thousands of purpose-driven team members to change even more lives for the better.”
The Board also acknowledged the contributions of interim Co-CEOs and Co-Presidents Karen Boone and Chris Bruzzo during the search process. As of November 1, Bruzzo will step down from his interim role but will remain on Peloton’s Board, while Boone will serve as sole interim CEO and President until Stern assumes his role in January. Hoag thanked both Boone and Bruzzo for their service, stating, “Their contributions over the past six months have been invaluable, and Peloton will be fortunate to benefit from their insights on the Board after Peter begins his new role.”
Prior to joining Peloton, Stern led Ford’s digital product team, managing a suite of subscription services, including BlueCruise and Pro Intelligence. He previously spent over six years at Apple, where he was responsible for major services like Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+, Apple Music, and iCloud. Stern holds a JD from Yale Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.
