Australian fitness heavyweight, STRONG Pilates, has made headlines with its announcement of a major expansion into Canada. The franchise's inaugural Canadian studio is all set to open its doors this November in Toronto, marking the initial step of a grand plan to establish a network of 60 studios across Canada within the next five years. This stride follows the franchise's dominance across continents, boasting a commendable count of over 100 confirmed studios spanning the UK, Asia, New Zealand, Australia, and now, Canada.
Recognized for its innovative blend of low-impact Pilates and high-intensity cardio workouts, STRONG Pilates has gained a loyal following. In a recent collaboration with Yoga Movement, a renowned yoga studio, the brand surged into South East Asia, announcing plans for 11 new STRONG studios to take root in Singapore over the next three years. The franchise has been maintaining an impressive momentum, inaugurating three studios within New South Wales in 2023, including a flagship location in Sydney's bustling CBD. Further expansions encompassed Western Australia and the UK, guided by former Australian cricket star, John Hastings.
Melding resistance pilates, rowing, and cycling into a dynamic 45-minute workout using the bespoke Rowformer, STRONG Pilates is poised to capture the attention of Canadian fitness enthusiasts. Co-founders Michael Ramsey and Mark Armstrong are bullish about the prospects, noting Canada's projected 171% fitness industry growth by 2028, and the burgeoning appetite for novel fitness formats. As the first Canadian studio takes shape, anticipation brews for further global expansion, with the US market squarely in STRONG Pilates' sights for 2024.
