Self Esteem Brands has reported significant growth in 2023, showcasing the rising global demand for franchising and personal health services. The company's portfolio saw an addition of over 500 franchise units worldwide, including significant expansions outside the U.S. and a 12.3% increase in systemwide revenues from the previous year.

New to the Self Esteem Brands family are Anytime Fitness master franchisees in France and Austria, while Canadian franchises have been unified under a new master agreement. They also announced the introduction of SUMHIIT Fitness, marking the international growth of the Basecamp Fitness brand, with its first locations set to open in Australia and Singapore in early 2024.

Dave Mortensen, SEB's president, emphasized the value of franchising as a model that offers both independence and support for franchisees, expressing optimism for continued growth across the company's brands globally.

Among its portfolio, Anytime Fitness stood out for its rapid expansion and service enhancements. With more than 5 million members, the brand reported over 40 million reciprocal visits in 2023. The brand also noted a 6.7% increase in coaching and personal training services, with members losing a combined total of 1.57 million pounds of fat and gaining nearly 872,000 pounds of muscle.

The Anytime Fitness App, enhanced with SmartCoaching technology, is poised to reach 1 million users in 2024, further facilitating members' fitness journeys. Additionally, a partnership with Apple Fitness+ has enriched the digital and in-person fitness experience for members in the U.S. and Canada.

Waxing the City also experienced growth, with franchise sales soaring over 300% from 2022 and achieving a 93% overall client satisfaction rate. Basecamp Fitness continued to refine the HIIT experience, planning further global expansion through the Basecamp and SUMHIIT Fitness brands.

The Bar Method also reported growth, with class attendance up 14% from the previous year, and introduced the new Bar Strength class format. Meanwhile, Stronger U, a virtual health and nutrition service acquired by SEB in 2021, demonstrated significant health improvements among its members.

These developments reflect SEB's strategic focus on expanding its global footprint while enhancing the quality and accessibility of personal health and wellness services.
