With cold and flu season in full swing, Orangetheory Fitness is taking steps to improve air quality in select studios through a partnership with air purification company Molekule. The initiative introduces Molekule’s FDA-cleared PECO-HEPA technology to enhance indoor air environments and reduce exposure to airborne pollutants during workouts.

The new air purification measures come after Orangetheory evaluated various technologies before selecting Molekule’s Air Pro and Air Mini+ units. The Air Pro is designed to handle large spaces, such as workout areas, while the Air Mini+ targets smaller zones like entryways and front desks. Both units filter out 99.97% of airborne particles, including viruses, bacteria, and allergens.

"Choosing Molekule was a deliberate decision after careful consideration of the best solutions available," said Rory Ellis, Vice President of Innovation and Design at Orangetheory Fitness. "By incorporating this advanced air purification technology, we're reinforcing our commitment to providing the highest standards of wellness and safety in our studios."

Air quality improvements are becoming a focus in fitness spaces, where high-intensity activities can elevate concerns about virus transmission. Jason DiBona, CEO of Molekule, explained that the collaboration aligns with Molekule’s goal to improve indoor air quality across various sectors. "By bringing our PECO-HEPA technology into fitness studios, we're enhancing the workout experience and contributing to the overall well-being of everyone who steps into these spaces," he said.

This partnership highlights a growing trend in the fitness industry to integrate health and safety technologies that go beyond traditional equipment upgrades, particularly during peak illness seasons.
