Fhitting Room Announces Closure of Multiple Locations Amid Industry Shifts

Boutique fitness brand Fhitting Room has announced the closure of three of its prominent locations: Chelsea, Upper East Side, and Dupont Circle. This decision is a response to significant changes and challenges within the fitness industry.
In a statement, the company explained, "An explosion in competition has led to more promotions while aggressive third-party booking companies have changed the way most people book and buy classes. In addition, the pandemic permanently altered daily patterns, leaving many early morning and evening classes a relic of the past. Simultaneously, substantial increases in overhead costs and astronomical increases in operating expenses have created a chasm too big to close. This business which we love has become nearly impossible equation to solve."
Founded in 2013 by Kari Saitowitz, Fhitting Room aimed to combine personalized training with the energy of group fitness. The brand quickly expanded, opening its first studio on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and later adding locations across New York City and Washington DC.
Despite the closures, Fhitting Room continues to offer digital fitness solutions, including Fhitting Room On Demand and FHIT at Home, allowing clients to maintain their fitness routines virtually. The final day of operation for the affected locations will be Sunday, June 30th.
