Crunch Fitness has reached the milestone of three million members while unveiling its new Crunch 3.0 gym design, aimed at meeting the evolving needs of its members. The updated layout reflects member feedback and industry trends, with enhancements to the gym environment, training spaces, and recovery facilities.
Crunch 3.0 features a redesigned entry and reception area, upgraded locker rooms, expanded strength training equipment, and functional workout spaces such as additional turf areas and an improved HIITZone™. The new Relax & Recover® wellness studio incorporates features like Hyperice equipment, red light therapy, and infrared saunas to support recovery and overall wellness.
“At Crunch, we’re proud to celebrate this milestone,” said Jim Rowley, CEO of Crunch Fitness. “Reaching three million members reflects our leadership in the high-value, low-price category. We’re confident that Crunch 3.0 offers the most innovative fitness experience and the best value in the market.”
The redesign also includes updates to group fitness spaces, such as modernized studios with improved lighting, backlit mirrors, and optional heated class offerings. Franchisees can now add a dedicated "Hot Stuff" studio for heated classes like yoga, Pilates, and Barre, responding to increased interest in wellness-oriented programming.
Recognizing growing demand for strength training, Crunch 3.0 includes expanded free weights, resistance machines, and Olympic lifting platforms. Functional training areas have also been improved, catering to personal training sessions and individual workouts.
The company has also considered team member needs, designing the layout to improve workflows between the front desk and training areas, enhance privacy for consultations, and increase staff visibility throughout the gym.
The Crunch 3.0 design debuted at the grand opening of Crunch East Plano in Texas, where the company celebrated its three-millionth member with $3,000 in prizes, including a complimentary three-year membership. Dak Prescott, franchise owner and Dallas Cowboys quarterback, attended the event.
Crunch Fitness has experienced rapid membership growth. After taking nearly 29 years to reach one million members, the company doubled that figure in under five years and added another million in just over two years. With plans to expand the Crunch 3.0 design to additional locations in 2025, the company continues its growth trajectory.
“The Crunch 3.0 design reflects how we’re meeting members where they are,” said Molly Long, Chief Operating Officer of Crunch Fitness. “From lighting and music to equipment and aesthetics, we’re delivering what today’s gym-goers want while continuing to make serious fitness fun.”
Crunch Fitness’s new design highlights its focus on creating a comprehensive gym environment that supports fitness goals while addressing member preferences for recovery, community, and functionality.
