Planet Fitness is once again opening its doors to teenagers this summer with the launch of its High School Summer Pass program. Now in its fourth year, this initiative allows teens aged 14 to 19 to work out for free at any Planet Fitness location across the United States and Canada, excluding Puerto Rico.

Starting Saturday, June 1, teenagers can sign up for the free program either online or at their local Planet Fitness gym. For those under 18, a parent or guardian must sign a waiver to participate. The promotion will run until Saturday, August 31, providing a summer-long opportunity for teens to engage in physical fitness.

This year's sign-up period opened on Monday, May 13. Teens can register online through the High School Summer Pass '24 link or visit their nearest Planet Fitness location to sign up in person. Once the waiver is signed, teens can work out independently throughout the summer.

The success of the High School Summer Pass program in 2023 highlights its growing popularity and impact. Last year, over 3 million high school students enrolled in the program, collectively logging 14.5 million workouts over three-and-a-half months. This initiative, running from May 15 to August 31, invited teens to join and exercise for free at any of Planet Fitness' 2,400+ locations in the United States and Canada.

The importance of such a program is underscored by a University of Georgia study, which found that 75 percent of teens do not get the recommended amount of daily exercise. The High School Summer Pass program addresses this gap, offering a valuable fitness resource during the summer months when many students lack access to regular sports or fitness activities.

The benefits of the program extend beyond physical health. In a survey of over 10,000 teen participants and their parents, Planet Fitness found that 87 percent of teens experienced improved mental health since joining the program. Additionally, 88 percent reported increased energy levels, and 75 percent noted an improvement in their overall mood. Parents also recognized the program's positive impact, with 81 percent acknowledging that their teens had a more productive and active summer because of it. Furthermore, 84 percent of parents said that seeing their teen exercise inspired other family members to become more physically active.

Planet Fitness' High School Summer Pass program not only promotes physical activity among teens but also fosters healthier, happier, and more active communities.
