Planet Fitness Enters European Market with First Club in Spain

Planet Fitness has announced the opening of its first club in Spain. The new club is located in Sabadell, a city in the province of Barcelona. This expansion is part of Planet Fitness's strategic growth plan, which sees significant potential in the Spanish market. The initial clubs will be launched through a joint venture with a franchisee partner, with the remainder of the market being franchised.
"Today, only 10% of the Spanish population has a gym membership, so this is an incredible opportunity to bring our brand and unique model to Europe," said Colleen Keating, Chief Executive Officer at Planet Fitness. Keating emphasized the company’s commitment to rapid growth and value creation. Planet Fitness has over 19.6 million members and operates 2,599 stores across all 50 states in the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Panama, Mexico, Australia, and now Spain.
