Planet Fitness Announces Appointment of Colleen Keating as Chief Executive Officer

Planet Fitness, Inc. has officially announced the appointment of Colleen Keating as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 10, 2024. Colleen Keating, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in hospitality, real estate, and franchise management, will be taking over from Craig Benson, who has served as the Interim CEO. Benson will step down but continue his involvement as a member of the Company’s Board of Directors.

Colleen Keating’s professional background is distinguished by her recent role as CEO of FirstKey Homes LLC, the fourth largest property management company for single-family rental homes in the U.S. Under her leadership, FirstKey Homes saw significant growth in operational efficiency and scalability. Her tenure at InterContinental Hotels Group and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, where she held several high-ranking positions, including Chief Operating Officer, Americas, has prepared her well for her new role at Planet Fitness.

Stephen Spinelli, Jr., Chairman of the Board at Planet Fitness, expressed his enthusiasm about Keating’s appointment, stating, "On behalf of the entire Board, we are thrilled to welcome Colleen as the next CEO of Planet Fitness." He highlighted her deep operational expertise and proven track record in leading large-scale franchise operations, which he believes will greatly benefit Planet Fitness as it enters a new phase of growth.

Craig Benson, the outgoing Interim CEO, also shared his positive outlook on the transition. "I am confident that Colleen is an excellent choice as Planet Fitness’s next CEO, and I look forward to working with her as a member of the Board," he said. His time as Interim CEO deepened his appreciation for the brand, its franchisees, and its team.

The Company plans to further discuss Ms. Keating’s appointment and its implications during the upcoming earnings call on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 8:00 AM ET.
