Life Time Amps Up Pickleball Offerings, Opens New NYC Venue

Life Time, a leading health club chain, is stepping up its game in pickleball, the sport that's rapidly gaining fans across the country. This move aligns perfectly with National Pickleball Month, highlighting the sport's growing popularity.

Recently, Life Time launched a collaboration with pickleball champions Ben and Collin Johns. This partnership brings 70 new instructional videos to the Life Time app, which range from beginner tips to advanced strategies. "We're thrilled to team up with Ben and Collin as we serve our growing membership engaging in this incredible sport," said RJ Singh, Life Time's Chief Digital Officer. He added, "These videos will help everyone, from those who've never picked up a paddle to advanced players looking to improve their tournament play."

Ben Johns shared his excitement about the partnership: "Life Time has taken pickleball by storm... We couldn't be more excited to partner with Life Time as the elite pickleball provider."

Adding to its digital initiatives, Life Time also celebrated the opening of its newest facility, Life Time PENN 1, in the heart of New York City's PENN DISTRICT. This space features seven new pickleball courts and is the city's largest indoor pickleball venue.

Parham Javaheri, who oversees club operations at Life Time, highlighted the importance of the new venue: "Life Time continues to gain tremendous momentum across Manhattan and Brooklyn because of our incredible people, programs, and places, including this new iconic destination at PENN 1."

The pickleball courts are just one part of the new 54,000-square-foot facility, which also offers group training and boutique studio classes. Glen Weiss from Vornado Realty, involved in the redevelopment of the PENN DISTRICT, expressed his enthusiasm: "From health and wellness options to dining selections and social spaces, The PENN DISTRICT offers endless ways to come together."

According to a recent report, 36.5 million people played pickleball last year, and Life Time itself saw a 51% increase in players in 2023. With over 635 permanent courts nationwide, Life Time is well-positioned to continue leading in the provision of top-tier health and fitness services, catering to the enthusiastic pickleball community.
