The fitness racing community has a new training hub with the opening of the first-ever Hyrox Performance Centre in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. This milestone marks a significant expansion of the Hyrox 365 ecosystem, offering a bespoke training environment tailored to the needs of fitness racers.
HPC Kreuzberg is the inaugural facility under Hyrox’s new high-level affiliation model. This initiative is part of a three-tier system introduced by Hyrox 365 earlier this year, which integrates education, training, and coaching to support athletes worldwide. The Performance Centre tier is designed exclusively for facilities aiming to optimize training environments for Hyrox’s unique competition framework.
David Magida, Head of Group Training at Hyrox 365, explained the concept: “The Hyrox Performance Centre concept allows Hyrox to work directly with gym owners to create an optimized group training facility in which floor space is maximized for the highly specific programming for Hyrox. With geographic exclusivity and deep integrations with partners such as Concept 2 and Centr, we're able to co-operate with owners and operators who want to create the ultimate training facility for our rapidly growing global community.”
To achieve HPC status, facility owners must undergo a comprehensive application process that includes a six-month feasibility assessment. This evaluation considers factors such as location, financial viability, and operational credibility. The process also involves collaboration with Hyrox’s equipment partners, Concept 2 and Centr, to ensure the facility meets the program's rigorous standards.
Minimum requirements for HPC facilities include a gym floor space of 160–200 square meters. During the assessment, Hyrox provides tailored floor plans to ensure optimal use of equipment and space for its group training model. Successful applicants receive geographic exclusivity for their HPC location, with the option to expand to additional sites.
Douglas Gremmen, Managing Director of Hyrox 365, highlighted the potential of the new model: “This offering caters to enterprise-level operators as well as individual owner-operators who want to create truly bespoke training environments for Hyrox athletes. We’ve been amazed by the level of interest shown in the HPC model across all regions, and I’m pleased to see the first location open in Berlin, with UK and Middle East facilities also coming online in 2024.
"In 2025, we expect to see HPC locations operating in most countries we currently service, as well as many more across our new markets including China, India, and Brazil.”
The financial commitment for HPC operators includes hardware investments ranging from $150,000 to $220,000 for Centr and Concept 2 equipment. Affiliation costs are $295 per month, with a minimum three-year agreement.
Hyrox 365’s other affiliation tiers include the Hyrox Training Club and Hyrox Performance Coach programs. Hyrox Training Club offers standard affiliation, granting facilities access to the brand’s training resources, marketing tools, and early registration for events. Fitness professionals can become certified Hyrox Performance Coaches by completing the Hyrox Academy program.
Gremmen noted the broader vision for the brand: “We want to expand beyond our current 600,000 active racers and provide a low barrier of entry to people wanting to experience Hyrox training and enjoy the community aspect of group exercise.”
With the launch of HPC Kreuzberg and plans for more Performance Centres in the UK and the Middle East before the end of the year, Hyrox is poised to solidify its place as a global leader in fitness racing.
