Recovery has become a cornerstone of modern fitness and wellness programs, with many health clubs and fitness businesses incorporating recovery services into their offerings to meet growing consumer demand. From cryotherapy and infrared saunas to massage therapy and percussive devices, recovery is now recognized as an essential component of optimizing performance and overall well-being. In response to this trend, Therabody, has partnered with Garmin to explore how recovery impacts athletic performance and to provide more personalized recovery solutions.

Garmin’s smartwatches, known for their advanced sensors and algorithms, track a wide range of health metrics, including heart rate, sleep quality, stress levels, and Body Battery™ energy levels. By integrating these data points with Therabody’s science-backed recovery technologies, the collaboration aims to deliver tailored insights that help athletes and fitness enthusiasts better understand how recovery contributes to performance.

“We are excited to collaborate with Therabody to help athletes of all levels perform – and recover – at their best,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing. “By providing athletes with these tools, they can make more informed training decisions and, in turn, work to take their performance to the next level.”

As part of this initiative, Therabody has launched a beta version of its AI-powered digital recovery platform, Coach by Therabody. Available through the Therabody app, the platform analyzes health and activity data from Garmin devices, as well as other platforms like Apple, Google, and Strava, to offer dynamic and personalized recovery recommendations. These recommendations are designed to adapt in real time to users' goals and changing needs, helping them optimize their recovery routines with minimal effort.

Therabody’s Chief Marketing Officer, John Solomon, emphasized the thoughtful application of AI in the new platform. “It’s important to note that Therabody is not doing AI for AI’s sake. As with all our products, we looked at how AI could solve a problem for our consumers. And over time, feeding it with the rich data from Garmin will allow us to really understand how recovery impacts performance at a scale that's not been achievable until now,” he said.

Monty Sharma, President and CEO of Therabody, highlighted the potential of the partnership. “To be able to combine Garmin’s best-in-class health and activity data with Therabody’s excellent recovery routines will provide uniquely personalized recovery recommendations that are not available with any other wearable integration today. Even better, we will work together to understand and improve performance for athletes of all kinds.”

The collaboration between Therabody and Garmin reflects a broader shift in the fitness industry toward integrating recovery into health and performance strategies. For fitness businesses, these innovations offer new opportunities to attract and retain members by addressing the growing consumer demand for comprehensive wellness solutions.
