Dry January, a movement encouraging individuals to abstain or reduce alcohol consumption during the first month of the year, is growing in popularity. A Morning Consult survey found that 35% of American adults participated in Dry January in 2023. Participants often cite benefits such as improved sleep, weight loss, and mental clarity.

ABC Fitness recently announced a partnership between its coach and trainer app, ABC Trainerize, and Sunnyside, a platform focused on mindful drinking. The collaboration aims to provide fitness professionals with resources to help clients reduce alcohol consumption, particularly during initiatives like "Dry-ish January."

ABC Trainerize data indicates a threefold increase in the tracking of alcohol-related habits over the past few years, reflecting a growing focus on mindful drinking among fitness clients. The partnership with Sunnyside adds features to the platform, including habit trackers, educational content, and strategies for reducing alcohol intake.

“Alcohol-related habits are among the most tracked on our app,” said Sharad Mohan, Platform President of ABC Trainerize. “By partnering with Sunnyside, we aim to support trainers in addressing both fitness and lifestyle goals.”

The collaboration also introduces trainers to Sunnyside’s tools for creating personalized alcohol-reduction plans. These tools allow clients to set goals, monitor progress, and integrate drinking habits into their overall wellness routines. Sunnyside CEO Nick Allen emphasized the role of fitness professionals in encouraging healthier habits, noting that this partnership extends Sunnyside’s approach into the fitness industry.

ABC Fitness and Sunnyside have developed resources for trainers, including a library of templates and evidence-based insights on reducing alcohol consumption. These materials are designed to assist trainers in delivering more comprehensive coaching.

The partnership between ABC Trainerize and Sunnyside highlights a broader shift in the fitness industry toward addressing lifestyle factors like alcohol consumption as part of overall wellness. With tools designed to help trainers support clients during Dry January and beyond, this initiative reflects an increasing focus on holistic approaches to health.
