Krissy Vann | Host, All Things Fitness and Wellness

In a story that encapsulates the essence of transformation, Denise Druce's path from leading aerobics on shag carpets to receiving the esteemed 2023 IDEA Inspiration Award stands as an inspiration to us all. What started as a modest beginning in 1981 evolved into a remarkable fitness and yoga journey, and her recent recognition underscores the profound impact she's had on the world.

Denise's foray into the fitness industry led her from those early 80’s shag carpet aerobics sessions to becoming a gym owner and ultimately embracing yoga in the early 2000’s.

However, it was within the realm of yoga that she experienced a true paradigm shift. Her personal struggles, including her father's battle with alcoholism and imprisonment, fueled her determination to make a positive change. This determination bore fruit in the form of "Yoga Forward," an initiative that provides yoga teacher training within the confines of the Utah State Correctional Facility. Through this groundbreaking program, Denise and her team kindle the spark of inspiration in inmates, offering a chance for transformation and growth.

Denise's journey hasn't been without challenges, and her recent health diagnosis has added another layer to her story. Yet, her resilience shines through, a testament to the power of yoga in navigating life's obstacles. Her journey illustrates that our life experiences can be the fuel that propels us to create positive change, both within ourselves and in the lives of others.
