Reiki On The Rise
Every year more people seek out holistic modalities for their wellness. Reiki is a form of energy healing. It is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation and healing.
It has been met with skepticism particularly in the past when some energy healers would claim they could cure disease and illness purely with laying of hands on the body. A lack of defined scope of practice has been problematic for this practice gaining adequate respect in the mainstream.
However, as we venture into 2023 there has been a tide shifting. Reiki is on the rise and it is earning recognition as a helpful healing tool.
Reiki comes from the Japanese word ‘Rei’ which means universal and ‘Ki’ which means vital life force energy. In reiki the hands of the practitioner are used to improve the balance and flow of energy to improve healing.
Reiki has been rising in popularity. An Insights West survey found that one in ten Canadians had tried Reiki in the past and the majority reported it was effective for their needs.
Reiki is increasingly being offered in hospitals and medical settings. Although it can not cure disease or illness studies have found it effective for improving mood, reducing anxiety, restlessness, and discomfort.
