Inspiring Duo: Two Iranian Women's Journey to Empowerment Through Fitness
Krissy Vann | Host, All Things Fitness and Wellness
The BBTFit Twins, Maggy and Maya Omrani, recently appeared on the All Things Fitness and Wellness podcast to share their inspiring journey. Born and raised in Iran they have a deep love of their culture and people. However, the duo faced numerous challenges growing up under a strict government that often deprived women of autonomy and dignity. Maya was even arrested for wearing tights at the age of 16, which only fueled their desire for freedom and self-expression.
After moving to Canada, the gym became a safe haven for the pair, providing a sense of belonging and a space to build confidence and strength. They started documenting their fitness journey on social media and quickly built a following. With over 800,000 followers on Instagram and Tik Tok, they have become a powerful voice in the fitness community, inspiring women to celebrate their bodies and build confidence.
The two also saw a gap in the athletic wear market, as they felt that existing apparel lines did not embody their personal style. This inspired them to create Monhnny, a sustainable athleisure brand that combines high-quality, functional pieces with a sexy twist. The brand is manufactured in Vancouver, providing job opportunities for seamstresses new to Canada who may face language barriers in the workforce.
In their podcast appearance, Maggy and Maya shared their empowering message of self-belief and hard work, highlighting actionable success tips and sharing the lessons they've learned from their failures along the way. The BBTFit Twins are a true inspiration, and their story serves as a reminder that anything is possible with determination and persistence.
